80 Minutes Exporting Settings?

If your importing to iDVD then it doesn't matter. You can have a file upto to 90 minutes in length and it compresses the file for you. However, if you have 80 minutes and are looking for the highest quality then your going to have work it out...but good luck finding out how!

My point is that it doesn't matter, the difference shouldn't be that noticeable.

I export as FCE movie file at the settings of my project (DV-PAL. 720x576, millions of colours, Stereo, 48khz, 16bit, 25fps.)

Then iDVD does the mpeg2 compression for me. I have no control over it.

I would put the film onto 2 disc's, as I don't think iDVD will allow you to get 80mins onto a DVD

Anyone have any idea what setting I should use for exporting of my video from Final Cut Express, as to burn about 80 some minutes onto a DVD-R in iDVD?

Uhm... so one of you says it does it automatically and the other says it won't allow it. Does anyone know for sure if iDVD will switch to 90 min automatically?

there appears to be a 90 minute limit with iDVD. I'm no expert with iDVD, I'm sorry I can't be of more help

You could always save for dvd studio pro. If you've got 12 years.

Did Quicktime 6 pro come with your FCX? I dunno exactly how it all works but when i was fooling around with FCP the other day, i found a scroll bar with times and codecs and such...maybe i should have payed more attention to that...I'll look into it again when i get back to school.

Yes I have made a DV feature Mr. Generic. iDVD does convert to 90 minutes automatically, and doesn't have the capability of doing a medium. It is either 60 or 90 according to the Apple peeps. So that means I have a 76 minute feature, and then I will have to make some trailers or a blooper reel... Stupid DVD studio pro!
